Gene M. Eckel
Background and Education
Mr. Eckel was born in
Glenwood,
Iowa on
January 11, 1971.
He received his bachelor’s degree in English in 1994 from the
University of
Nebraska at
Lincoln. He served as the
Legislative Aide to Nebraska State Senator John Lindsay for 2
Legislative sessions before pursuing his legal education. He
obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from
Creighton
University
School of law in
1999. During law school, he was a member of the editorial
staff with Creighton Law Review. Mr. Eckel also received an
award for Best Student Article published by Creighton Law
Review in 1999.

Bar Admissions
Mr. Eckel is admitted to practice before the Nebraska Supreme
Court, and all county, district and appellate courts in the
state. He is also admitted to practice before the United States
District Court, District of Nebraska.
Areas of Practice
Mr. Eckel practices in the areas of Securities Arbitration,
Insurance Defense, Corporate Law, and Estate Planning. He has
also represented clients in Construction Law.
Legal
Organizations and Affiliations
Mr. Eckel is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association. He
is also a member of the International Society of Primerus Law
Firms. Currently, he is a member of the Real Estate Practice
Guidelines Committee of the Nebraska State Bar Association. Mr.
Eckel is the Chair of the Chapter Advisory Board of Phi Delta
Theta Fraternity at the
University of
Nebraska at
Lincoln.
Publications and Distinctions
The New Standard Applicable To State Taxation Of A Nonresident
— An Analysis Of The Supreme Court’s Treatment Of The
Privileges And Immunities Clause In Lunding v.
New York Tax Appeals Tribunal,
32 CREIGHTON L. REV. 1311 (1999). Mr. Eckel is a
2004 Graduate of the National Trial Academy Tort Trial and
Insurance Practice Section. Mr. Eckel has the distinction of
being one of only 36 attorneys nationwide invited to attend the
5th Annual ABA Tort and Insurance Practice Section for the 2004
National Trial Academy.
