Jury in
Iowa Says Owner Set Bowling Alley Fire
WORLD-HERALD NEWS SERVICE
Audubon, Iowa -A federal court jury decided Friday that Bruce
Molle of Audubon, Iowa, set fire to a bowling alley he owned in
Audubon and lied about the fire in a failed attempt to recover
insurance money on the business.
Bill Gast, attorney for the Tower Insurance Co., said the
ruling came after a weeklong trial in U.S. District Court in
Council Bluffs.
The
bowling alley was heavily damaged by fire Aug. 23, Molle never
was charged with arson, because investigators said they did not
have enough evidence to convict, Gast said.
Gast said the statute of limitations also has run its course, so
Molle could not be charged with a crime.
